She was an accom- plished writer and garden designer and was often featured in society pages and fashion magazines. Villa Artemis, the estate where the photograph was taken, was a sprawling property located on the oceanfront in Palm Beach, Florida. Villa Artemis was designed in 1916 for Frederick and Amy Phipps Guest by architect F. Burrall Hoffman. The estate was known for its stun- ning gardens, which were designed by C.Z. Guest herself, and for its elegant interiors, which were decorated with a mix of antique and contemporary furnishings.The overall effect of the photograph is one of timeless beauty and sophistication, with every detail carefully curated to create a sense of effortless elegance.
